Do you even read the answers? We already told you that you just need to use a different file manager, they have GUIs and are also able to hide files (and unhide them).

On Unix you can send a SIGSTOP to a process to freeze it, and a SIGCONT to thaw.
For example killall -STOP hildon-thumbnailerd would freeze the hildon-thumbnailer, and killall -CONT...

It's not related to TV out at all, the N900 suffers badly from tearing (scroll the home screen slowly and you'll see horizontal bands where 2 frames are intermixed and various other jittery...

You found them only because you used apt-get from command line. When you normally install applications via Application Manager the .deb file is deleted immediately after it's installed.
