Re: Who makes the maemo.org community?

In the same way, open does not justify being good.

Maybe the fact, they want to be part of maemo means they want to be part of community. As GeneralAttila pointed out, sometimes the...

Re: A manifesto for the walkaround-web tablet

it is (in my opinion a useless) process that scans your cards for media files. removing it has no advers affects what so ever. in addition to improved battery life , startup time is improved. to...

Re: A manifesto for the walkaround-web tablet

You can, though you're limited to preset values. Control panel -> Connectivity -> Idle times tab.

But you need to set it (in the General tab) for a search interval of never, or it will try to...

Re: A manifesto for the walkaround-web tablet

Instead of switching it off to save battery, why not just place the NIT in off-line mode? That's what I do here.

I cannot remember if this feature is available by default or if one has to edit...

Re: How to greatly enhance your n800 experience

The amount of hate by the NIT crowd, is ... more disturbing to me than the amount of loyalism by the Apple crowd.

I have an iphone and an n800. I used to have a 770, and might upgrade to a n810...

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

I don't use xchat, so I don't know specifically, but I think that in general things with 100 options should be command line or config file based. Now things (like a word processor) with 100 actions...

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

I'd say the right solution would be not to have 100 different options for a small application. Once again imho it has vastly too much settings, I'm a rather advanced user and still even I have...

Your character keys are put in the keyboard by pressing the &|e button along the right hand side of the onscreen keyboard. Braces are along bottom row.

Re: The maemo Wikipedia Improvement Project

I have reverted it again with a note to take this to the discussion page as well as a note in the vandalism section backing up GA's edits. Meanwhile made his edits in bad faith and this should be...

In Red Pill Mode, it shows up as 'build-essential'. It's a wrapper package.

Nice start, but it should be an enhancement request (current functionality isn't broken, we want new functionality—fixed). Requests should generally be more specific (you don't want to make the...

Re: Security on Nits?

"most analysts"? Could you produce your sources for that huge leap of logic?

From the page. "SXE is not an anti-virus application or a firewall." - I guess we're screwed.

Re: Some things I don't understand

Some points on the recent discussion:

1) I've sent images off the tablets to my networked printer via bluetooth, but it's very crude. No control over the results, just a pure image dump. There...

Re: Nokia is not Apple and will never be

I don't think that was the goal here; it seems more focused on bashing Nokia than lauding the empire of slightly-used fruit.

Which would mean "Off Topic"? That's where I'd have put it, but we...
