Best I don't know but poedit is probably the simplest.

The workflow I used to get Danish successfully uploaded was like this:

Download po/conboy.pot

In poedit: File - New catalog from pot file (enter sensible info)

Translate, save giving you a .po file

In transifex, Add a new translation

Local file is the .po file you got from poedit, leave the select target file dropdown empty, and in the field immediately below it entered "po/da.po". Commit message, enter something witty about Steve Jobs' mom.

Click send, and wait for conny to fish the mail out and upload your contribution to the conboy VCS. Only then does transifex see it.

So you could conceivably compare what you've been doing against this to see where you went wrong. This worked for me, in any case.

Well, glad to see this all got started right around when I was leaving on my trip. Great stuff. :)

No, my first attempt at localizing the packaging data didn't actually work and I didn't have time yet to take another run at it. As soon as I have it working (if possible) I'll let you know what needs to be done.

I received the translation, thanks a lot :)

Some things I noticed:
- The file encoding was 'Windows-1256' which took me some time to figure it out as it was not stated in the file header. Strange that transifex accepted it, because normally it seems to reject files without the encoding in the header. I converted the file to UTF-8 and added this information to the header.

- The file was named 'conboy.pot' which is the name of the template. It should have been 'ar.po' instead. I also fixed that, though it makes me wonder what would have happened if transifex would already directly commit to SVN. It looks like it would have overwritten the template file. Surely something that should not happen. I´ll test this again once the direct SVN committing is in place.

You can see/edit the translation now directly on the transifex.net web site. Thanks :)

Could you please try to change something inside the German translation? Let´s see if that works for you, I won´t commit the changes, so just write something in there.

Also, when you click the "summit translation" button, do you get the yellow success-message on the top of the page or is there still some error?

Even tough the same error shows up...

Which format of file do you upload? .pot? .txt? ...
