But you've got to understand, when you buy one of the $5 Made-in-China wonders, about $2 goes to shipping overseas, $2.50 for business overhead, and about 40 cents, give or take, for sweatshop maintenance and depreciation costs.

So some 12-year-old in China is making these for only 10 cents; but you got it for $5 so I guess you're happy.

If you could find a conscience somewhere, you would go with the Boxwave; then it breaks down more like $2 shipping, $2.50 for business overhead, $5 for office space & sweatshop, and $20 towards a 36" monitor for one of the corporate fat cats..

Yes, I guess that 12-year-old in China would be happier without a sale.

This is all a matter of economic theory, which you don't seem to understand very well. Spending more money on buying US products doesn't do us any good in the long run; it just helps us maintain companies that aren't competitive.

By the way, interested readers (I'm sure there are none here, actually) might look up a book called Asian Dilemma written by someone named (I think) Gunnar Myrdall in the 1970s or 1980s. In it he explains that the Asian continent is doomed and can't recover from the human avalanche of just too much population.

Of course, his contention was totally wrong, Asia recovered nicely, largely due to 12-year-olds and making things cheaply for international consumption.

are the boxwave ones made in the US? i havent really looked into it but i'd assume they came from a very similar sweatshop in china with similar conditions. It'd be nice if the world worked like that though... Nike would be giving USD 20 for office space and sweatshops for each pair of USD 120 shoes

I'm almost positive that the boxwave ones are made in the exact same sweatshops, not even similar ones.

and someone mentioned it being loose on the top and bottom, are all the silicone cases like that?
