I believe the side-dock is just the ports on the side of the device.

No, it's just a dream or DIY project at the moment. Fools like me like to think that Nokia would someday sell such an accessory.

(A big fat housing with USB, power, and 1/8" audio connectors, which would presumably latch onto the kickstand.)

I like it. I like it. Sounds like a plan. Of course, we have this wonderful little devise and we end up acumulating all these accessories . LOL :D

???? I guess it would be. XD
I don't think most people carry any dock around with them; you leave it on your desk. And another one by the bed, and maybe something like it (in combination with a mount) in the car. If you're not one of those places, you just use individual cables...

But if such a thing was available, not too large and did enough stuff, I could see carrying it around. I'm apparently one of the few oddballs that carry the n800 around in a chest pack. I already carry around the Nokia , a Proporta battery and a few other small things in the pack. I use it like an MP3 player or for Pandora. Such a docking station thing could be handy for me because I could then leave everything connected to it in the pack and then remove the Nokia for lighter use.

They're called Barrel Plugs or Coaxial Power Connectors, and the Nxx0's use Nokia's 2.5mm plug iirc.

Don't know the specs you need, but if you find what we need let us know ;) http://www.minute-man.com/acatalog/O...Plugs_199.html

N8x0, at least, are 2mm.
A couple PDFs, including mechanical specs, are available at http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/reso...interface.html.

(The most important details: 2mm outside, 0.5mm pin.)

It seems as though this adapter might work http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7199
It's a right-angle adapter for the N70, which I think is the same power plug as the N800.
From the picture, it's to connect the N70 to an earlier-model Nokia (larger barrel coax) charger - but I'm just guessing.
I'd just order one to see, but they're OOS
Bob

PS: I could have this exactly backwards as it's possible the N70's the earlier model and uses the larger barrel - to it'd be for using a newer charger with the older phone.
