Vista. But I've plugged into XP and had no problem. With the N900 in Mass Storage mode you definitely don't need any to get full speed.

Yup, no pc suite here, don't even have it installed anymore.

It's only use is for thethering but I'll take my time someday to configure that without pc suite.

Bye bye pc suite:rolleyes:

But if it installs drivers, mightn't they stay after an uninstall of the suite?

I have to do the traditional format pretty soon and I'll let you know. SP3 should have the drivers built in as the hardware used is pretty generic.

PC Suite is pretty handy if you have a Symbian device :) But I doubt it's that...I use my Nokia phones as mass storage on PCs with no PC Suite and I never get that warning.

Re: Trouble connecting at USB 2.0 speeds

Ok, final bit of wisdom on this topic -

it seems that in order to get USB2.0 speeds, the phone must be OFF!

Well frikkin' duh! God, why does Nokia even bother with the big ol' "enable USB storage mode" button to push, when they know darn well that it will cripple functionality!

It was an accident, but I plugged in the phone while it was off, I didn't realize it, then went to transfer files and did in 3 minutes what was taking 30-50 before.

Well all I can say is just "DUH"!! Pardon my infantilism, but, man, just duh.

ATTENTION NOKIA N900 USERS - IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL FILE TRANSER RATES OVER USB 2.0, IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE SURE YOUR PHONE IS SWITCHED "OFF".

Would a little bit of big information like this have been too much for Nokia to pass on to its customers? I don't think so. Add this to the "beta user" list of chores we all must deal with!

Ok, there's 100% no pc suite required for mass storage on windows XP sp3, simply pug & play.
Tested this on a fresh xp install :)

ATTENTIO TO ALL "MY SYSTEM IS LIKE YOUR SYSTEM SO I'M RIGHT".

So question is. How many systems you have now succesfully evaluated with this problem? After I updated to 1.1 firmware i haven't had this problem.

This isn't a sure fire fix - and I don't want to have to turn the phone off every time I want to USB transfer.

I still have the 1.1 problem....the only way is to switch the phone off....I`ll try the PC suite and see if that fixes it
