Alright, thanks, so I was right. This does seem to be (another?) case with Nokia employee stupidity, eh? :p I'll still wait for more comments on this, since I got interested.

I cannot find any mention in any legal papers so far that flashing N900 would cause one to lose warranty on any parts of the OS or the hardware itself. Not to mention the fact that Nokia even themselves suggest you to flash it if you encounter issues.

Considering that N900 is aimed as a developer phone and even Nokia's own documents refer to re-flashing several times I simply don't believe the customer support operative was indeed correct.
