this whole maemo thing ion n900 (queen beecon) is useless unless you have a friend penguin..assuming penguins know the language of linux coding and stuff

you can reflash from vista or XP or win7, and seriously clean your sim card if it's not wokring.
i don't know what a day/night beecon is, but it doesn't sound very important.

Re: hi im eccentric and straight to the point

thanks. i will look into that. oh so what your saying is clean the front of the sim card,,the gold bit with alcohol and q-tip? ''.

n othe sim seems fine thanks it seems a common problem.

no , you see . my problem is i bought thiss phone because i know it can do alot. behind errrm debian id say probably the most advanced thing is the queen beecon terminal and i have been trying to get the day/night snippet working for about a month with little help.

the only response I have had is from the guy who created it. presuming there are lots of people who are familar with queen beecon and this particular part of it and the amount of people who clearly know what theyre talking about on this forum. im disapointed about the resonse ive had in wanting to run this aplication from the word go upon buying n900.

this rant should probably be in my other thread.

surely someone can sympothise with this if you look at my post history.

thanks for now.

Your SIM may be flaky. Try replacing it if possible. I am saying this based on my experience ,read on if u care.

Sharing my mom's experience(or I guess mine since I'm her technical support and I get daily calls) with a SIM and Nokia 5230 + Samsung Gravity 2.

She was using a refurbished Samsung Gravity 2 that did not behave very nicely so she wanted a new phone. Bought the 5230 put in her SIM and it would give her a "Connection Error" every time she called somebody, most of the times before the 1 min mark. The same SIM worked like a charm in the Samsung. After random testing etc I realize that the SIM card is to blame even if it worked fine in the N900 and in Samsung.

I was able to get her a new SIM for free and I haven't received a call regarding her cell since then. It's safe to assume it's working well.

thanks yeah i had the 5230 perviously and you have to use a pen to get it in out out.
it probably buggered the sim in doing that.
ill get a new one cheers

Re: hi im eccentric and straight to the point

My n900 was rebooting when i opened the keyboard for a few days, it works fine now though, and I think cleaning the SIM fixed it. I guess it could have been the battery contacts too though. But yeah, clean first, then replace if it's still working intermittently. Since you bought it used it's hard to know it's not the phone :(
