Re: N900 in 2012
aging cpu and lack of ram
but... if you consider when it came out...more than 2 years ago... you forgive its shortcomings. come to think about it from the 2009 smartphones , only two are pretty good for today's use. i am talking about the N900 and the HD2 all the others are in the grave (i 3gs, omnia hd, n97, milestone, omnia pro etc etc) |

Re: N900 in 2012
Practical and breakthrough applications that make mobile internet a handy tool is what I'm missing and will never have in N900 apparently.
I am talking about ebanking apps, bill paying apps and some very useful ar apps like Layar. We've had a small taste in the early days and even promises that such apps would come to N900 (hell they were presenting them on a N900) but as we all here know such thing never happened. :( Appart from the commercial big s/w houses app development I think my N900 is still browsing much better than most of the competition, except maybe the dual core ones. |

Re: N900 in 2012
if you are gonna reflash and wanna start semi-clean you can use
dpkg --get-seletions before to get a list of your installed packages, pipe to a text file, delete lines of stuff you don't want, save it somewhere else off device flash move text file back use dpkg -set-selections piping text file back in oh yeah, you might need to setup repositories before too |

Another vote here for rockbox. I don't know why it is so obscure.
