Re: os2007 he issues for a newbie
Under SMTP Authentication, try changing it to Login. If that doesnt work either try changing the security from TLS to SSL.
It took me a while to get it right on a mates 770, I dont use GMail so dont have the exact settings to hand. |
Re: os2007 he issues for a newbie
i tried changing the smtp setting and still no good...
i'm not sure what the problem is since i configured entourage on my ibook to check my gmail using the same configuration. logically, the smtp setting should not prevent me from accessing the pop server at least, but i can't even log in at this point. i'm giving up for the time being... thanks for trying. |

@ Nerdmojo.
Some minor changes to the settings that you outlined above (@ 4:57)... Under 'advanced' settings, on 'incoming' tab, try switching "password authentication' to 'normal'. On 'outgoing' tab, set 'SMTP authentication' to 'login' and under 'security' use 'SSL' (Apparently, I'm addicted to the ' key. Sorry.). I just set up my GMail account on my 770 HE yesterday, and the aforementioned settings are the only places that my settings differ from yours. It works just fine now. You might also try the Notifier app that places a GMail Notifier in the toolbar window at the top of the screen. It almost makes the regular email client redundant. Good luck. |
