Contact the packager, inform them of the problem (detailed description) - remind that the Section: line in the debian/control must be a subsection of user: For e.g. Section: user/games http://plaes.org/blog/2007/02/15/openttd-on-n800/ http://openttd.toimii.net/maemo/ http://dastych.sh.cvut.cz/~jtra/stuf...o/openttd.html http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.p...464&hilit=n800 |

This version should work on N800 without any modifications or it works on my N800. If it doesn't work, perhaps your system is missing some packages. But try to get newest version of N800 firmware. Perhaps it helps. Also of course you can try to use plaes n800 patch, but it needs bit more work. Installing scratchbox, downloading newest version of openttd from svn, patching + perhaps needs some editing, and so on. |

I would love poker clients. Pokerstars, Partypoker, Cake... Seeing that there are no official linux clients to begin with and you have to run them through wine right now, I guess it won't happen.

ArminS, if you have OS2007 Hacker Edition, maybe you could try and get it working with that? |

FreeCNC seems to be discontinued, but FreeRA seems to be active, so I built the download version from sourceforge and bundled a free sample mission. http://pupnik.de/freera.png http://pupnik.de/freera_armel_001.tgz Untar this to a directory with 25MB free space. If you untar to SD/MMC you need to move the freera executeable to somewhere on your root filesystem to execute it (e.g. /usr/bin). Check README_Nokia.txt for notes. I have no idea how this is supposed to play. I'm keeping an eye out for CnC - RA auctions on eBay. (edit) thanks to sol for testing on N800 - on N770 it crashes on trying to malloc 64MB. The bad news is that the game doesn't appear to be playable with the free demo. Author's homepage http://www.freera.org is not clear on exactly how playable it is. If you have the original Red Alert CDs, let us know if freera is playable with them. cheers |
Re: Games that should be ported to maemo
Nice, i dont have data for ra1 though :(
On the links page of freera they have link to this free similar game : http://stratagus.sourceforge.net/install.shtml Any idea if all the libraries it requires can be found for maemo? EDIT : Ok so thats just the engine.. actual games built from it are here : http://stratagus.sourceforge.net/games.shtml Looks like they have warcraft and starcraft engines (none of which i own) and a boswars game that looks complete but looks too good to be true (at least for maemo) : http://www.boswars.org/download.shtml I downloaded this for desktop and it looks great... maemo could probably handle it (if all libraries were available). |

(edit) Not playable though... full maemo build tree w/exe here: http://pupnik.de/boswars-2.4_maemo-src.tgz Let me know if you're missing dependencies. |
Re: Games that should be ported to maemo
:) So will this be turned into a pupnik download release? Any major issues?
I can set up the installer if u want. |
Re: Games that should be ported to maemo
I can't believe no one has mentioned X-Com: Ufo Defense.
As I recall it was almost entirely a mouse-based interface, too. Probably wouldn't need a keyboard at all to play it. I used to play that game on my 286, it shouldn't be too hard to play in DosBox, right? |
