Variance in hardware is lot more probable cause. Couldn't it be that N900s Nokia tested were stable and some of the production units hit a bad batch of components? |
Re: N900 Satisfaction Survey
it is variance in the hardware - we know this . when have i said it wasnt- the drivers or the kernal(whatever) hasnt bneen written to allow this variance.
most people are saying its not bad conponents- its varied conponents- that need to be controlled differenetly- and this difference should be noted in the kernal and allowed for. |

So the questions are mainly: -Did Nokia know about this variance before releasing N900 or not? -Is this variance something that came up mostly in the a batch of OMAP3s for Droid & N900 or something more common? -Is this variance within the specs of the processors Nokia bought or the fault of the manufacturer? Depending on the answers this is either completely Nokias fault or not at all. Either way, Nokia does seem to replace all faulty phones so everyone is entitled to a working one. It is quite a bit more expensive to Nokia to ship buggy phone that is replaced than not ship it, so I'm not really buying the "on purpose" angle. |
Re: N900 Satisfaction Survey
Given the stats we're seeing, I'm wondering whether our assumptions about sample skew (for TMO specifically) are correct.
Perhaps the N900 customer base is a generally more enthusiastic bunch of tech lovers that are more generally inclined to participate in this online community - so we actually have a better quality, more representative sample. Perhaps this highlights the difference between a "tech support" forum and a genuine "user community"? |

"Either way, Nokia does seem to replace all faulty phones so everyone is entitled to a working one."
"I will never again purchase a Nokia product! After 5 hours on the phone with Tech support over 10 days Nokia no won't exchange my phone because it's passed the 30 day limit. Even though I started the complaint on the 20th day. Their support team never calls back and management is terrible. I supply phones to my 12 employees. I promise it won't be Nokia. " |

Guarantee is usually quite a bit longer than 30 days. I haven't personally heard of any problems with Nokia support, quite the opposite. I am sure I would get my phone replaced within first year if it started to develop random reboots. |
Re: N900 Satisfaction Survey
Minor niggles - The N900 is the first phone I have ever owned that displays a web page properly. For me, that trumps any inconveniences from the initial shortcomings of the phone.
Are there any other phones on the market that display web pages as complete as the N900 does? |
