* A keyboard to rival the five row HTC Touch Pro 2 - better still just copy it.

* 3.7" - 4" screen without making the footprint too much bigger i.e. don't waste too much space with the bezel...

" Faster CPU

* Maemo 6

* Make UI components slightly larger. I find text and everything in general a tad small compared to other smartphones/devices. We shouldn't have to squint... Or have a way to alter global font size.

* Multi-touch

* Real SAT NAV pls!

I'm easy. Just give me:

1. voice dialing through bluetooth headset (no need to touch the phone)

2. a really great PIM with tasks/to do that enables multiple contexts for each task, sorting by date of entry/deadline, search function + has an app for both the phone and the pc or even in the cloud so that all data backed up.

3. Real sat nav.

4. I forgot - paint that chrome bezel around the camera.

All other upgrades are nice to have, but not essential to me.

stronger hardware in all the basics like ram, proc etc..

4.0 inch oled multi touch cap screen with qwerty keyboard
more front screen hardware buttons
fm transmitter, fm radio
8.0 megapix cam, HDMI out, 720p vid recording.
GPS with free ovi maps turn by turn voice nav

And what would a `real sat nav` be? N900 has quite a real GPS receiver in it (and with good enough resolution considering the power consumption and size that is needed for mobile devices), augmented with cell towers (or as they call it assisted) for a quicker lock-on (without waiting for it to grab 4 stable signals + one backup which takes time and wastes the battery).

Let me get this straight. You want a screen that is virtually unreadable in sunlight, its power consumption varies in dependence of how vivid the picture is it has to show (it beats LCD in power consumption only with darker themes) and has a lower lifetime, while its touchscreen has a horrible precision (specially when used with high-resolution display), consumes 10 times more power to register touch, and can be used only by your bare, fat fingers (or nose)? Talk about devolution...

I just want it to have the best specs of all the phones...
Capacitive screen with multi touch
1ghz processor with separate graphics processor
make use of the unused space behind the screen of the n900 and add another row of keys.. or maybe 2.... and spacebar in the middle
at least 4 soft keys / hard keys to fill up the space on the right or fill it up with a bigger screen
noise deadening mike - like on the nexus
Nokia Nseries engraved at the back in BIG
the screen could tilt instead of having that support near the camera
better charging port...better speakers...better back cover... better battery life (not that important if the back cover is smooth to take off.. We can always carry a spare one)
slimmer, magnetic stylus ...
and also the back of the screen (when opened) should be smooth and tidy...
I know, im asking for too much... i should take it easy...:D

maemo 6 :)
Full ovimaps with turn by turn directions.
4.3inch screen like the htc hd2 amoled screen
Multitouch capacitive with optional capacitive stylus (kinda like the htd hd2)
4 row keyboard like the touchpro2 or n810.
