Tuxracer on N900? Yes, as "Tuxrace"
Is it possible to port this to N900 and fremantle? Would love to see this on my new shiny device :D

Re: Tuxracer on N900?
Tux Racer requires OpenGL, so a port to Fremantle would require modifying it to use GL ES. As one of the better linux-oriented games, it would be a worthy addition to maemo, but it's not a completely trivial port.
I suspect we'll see a lot more GL ES ports once things are better sorted with the libraries and some good examples. |
Re: Tuxracer on N900?
Is Supertux based on another engine because I already saw a port for Fremantle?

Re: Tuxracer on N900?
Supertux doesn't require OpenGL. It's an "ordinary" 2D platform side-scroller.

In fact it states that TuxRacer has already been ported to OpenGL ES |
Re: Tuxracer on N900?
There's a open source OpenGL to OpenGL ES translator here: http://opensource.dylogic.com/DOGLES...les/About.html

Re: Tuxracer on N900?
I started a converson attempt on Tuxracer a couple of weeks ago. The big trouble was getting the OpenGL dependencies sorted out in the Autobuild system. I'm just not familiar enough with m4 macros and configure.ac. For now it's on hold due to work. If anyone else wants to try iGLU can be built by swapping in the default makefile.

Re: Tuxracer on N900?
This would be a great game to have. It's such a shame we can't put that nice HWA to work:(

Re: Tuxracer on N900?
hopefully we can play these types of games in near future

Re: Tuxracer on N900?
Great game that would lend itself to accelerometer controls easily.
