Is this a phone?

Just wondering if this can be used as a phone too or is it just used for internet?

Re: Is this a phone?

Yes and no. It will not replace a cell phone, however, you can make phone calls over the internet. Still, it is NOT a cell phone.

Perhaps it isn't a CELL phone but it IS a phone for me. I use the SIP/VoIP phone as my primary phone number. So you can't roam around like a cell but for me it is a phone.

Sure, just drop your SIM card in and you're good to go. And while we're at it: There's a supersecret key combination that will reset it to Windows Mobile 6.1 as well.

(sheesh. How many does it take?)

Re: Is this a phone?

No, it's not a "phone" in the sense that you are thinking --- it's not a cell phone and doesn't work with cell phone signals. However, if you near a viable wifi signal, you can use the built-in skype program to call other skype phones; or you can pay some money to call normal phones. Details here: http://www.skype.com

C'mon guys, go easy on him. He's just a noob! ;)

Has anyone tried two tablets connected by a taut string? It works with tin cans...

Not sure I'm understanding. He has one post, status shows Junior Member and joined this month. So, he's a Senior Member? ;)

So all those people who are regularly popping up, offering iPhones (<spit!>) for USD 99.00 are valuable new members as well?

Tip: Forum stats aren't like Bog's Word. Look at me, I'm listed as a "senior member", while in reality I'm positively decrepit.

I hope there is Some Logic there Karel, but it positively eludes me.

He implies the guy is a troll. Given a freshly created account and a question that can obviously be answered with a simple Google query, he is likely to be right.

Am I missing something here? Yeah, it's a simple question that has an answer that can be Googled, but questions like that happen ALL the time --- on all messageboards. I don't see any proof from his post that implies he's even trying to sell anything... until then, innocent until proven guilty.

That is also true, but an experienced troll will always masquerade as a harmless newbie in a case like that. I guess we should wait and see if this guy posts more and what it will be.

For those of you not familiar with Chappelle's Show, here's the clip.

I'm just dying to find out if you can make a single post question that was answered sufficiently by post #3 drag out for two pages and stay active for three weeks.

Thanks for dragging it out, keep working to 3000 posts. Quality doesn't count. (I'll assume you have made contributions elsewhere, but they don't reflect in your actions here)

So, this poster got correct and informative replies until the hijinks started. Even if he's sincere as rain, I think no harm has been done.

Hey, but look at all the people he's inadvertently exposed to Dave Chappelle who otherwise would've remained unenlightened. I figure that's got to count for something. :D

I'm assuming you're a big fan of useful contributions then?

From the clip I've seen, I could have gladly been spared the exposure.

And he's been quite vocal in thanking for those usefull replies. Here's a tip: Google that username for recent activities in forums.

Don't quantity have a quality all of its own?

Karel is like Hetty in The Last of the Mohicans, who is mad, but is allowed to go anywhere, revered, and occasionally speaks truth.

Ta-daaah!

To paraphrase: "I'm mad, true; but am I mad enough?"
