Noreve leather case?

Hello

I want to protect my N900 and am considering the leather case by noreve which has been recommended at various places on this forum:

http://www.noreve.com/brand/Nokia/pr...Tradition.html

I believe this is the only N900 case by that company. I would like to know two things before I place my order:

1. How is the feeling of making phone calls with that case? Does it feel bulky or clumsy?
2. All wallet-style leather cases I came across use a transparent plastic film wrapped around the keyboard to fix the N900, but there clearly is no such film on that case according to the product pictures. How is the device attached to the case then?

Regards, Matt

I got the Noreve case for N900 yesterday. Good quality product, just like all Noreve cases I've had so far.

Can't really say about making phone calls, as I've not yet called or received calls with the phone in the case.

The phone is held in place by a rim around the case and is actually quite firm. Access to different buttons is still provided. Texting SMS's is also possible, as the screen slides out of the case without any problems.

Noreve are also coming up with a another case for N900, soon probably available from the website.

Thank you. since this sounds promising, I will probably buy that case. You don't know by chance whether the unreleased case is also of 'wallet-style', with an opening front-lid? I'm asking because I would prefer the lid to be attached at the back (on the long side) instead of the left (on the short side). But I can probably deal with both, so thanks for the insight. Asking on t.m.o was much more effective than repeatedly contacting noreve.

I've bought cases for multiple Nokia 6300's, Nokia N95, Nokia N86 Nokia 6600's and I have 2 for N900´s on order from Noreve.

I´ve been thrilled with them all, except for the 6300, the 6300 one was a very different design, probably a older idea and not comparable to the other ones.

The unreleased case is simply a pocket in which you slide the phone into from the top (portrait orientation). The one released is a flip open one and should attach in the middle of the back.

I think my wife now wants a N900, she´s fallen for it so I might get a unreleased C-style case as well just to try it out.

They are "released" in the US but are not in stock. I ordered on the day they were released, Dec. 17th, but they haven´t been shipped from Noreve yet.

I can recommend the Noreve cases, great quality, look good and are a great compliment to nice devices. But watch out for the belt clips. The screws have a habit of getting loose. Perhaps use something like crazy glue or epoxy to keep the screws in place if you intend to use a belt clip.

I've posted a review on the n900 Noreve case here. The review case came in Rogue red. You can find the rest of the images at the link.

@di1in
How'd you find the metal clip? was it much better than the plastic?
Also, is the N900 held in firmly or would it fall out if the popper cam undone?
Thanks

Out of my experience with these cases I'd be more afraid of the belt clasp to come loose of the case then the phone coming out of the case.

Decide on whether or not you are going to use a belt clip. If you are then superglue the belt clip screw in place to keep it there once and for all.

And just so you know, I've bought 3 N900 Noreve cases and bought 8-9 for other types of phones. I learned the hard way not to trust the clip attachment screws.

I just got my noreve case today, and I have to say I am impressed. I normally dont care for the leather cases due to bulk, but it does not add on too much and it is very slick.

I had a rubberized hard case, and I have to say, I think I like this much better!

Any chance you can stick up a few pics too?

Also how easy is it to take pictures? looks like it might be a bit cumbersome with having to fold it over so much?

I like the leather case but I wish it didnt have the flip cover.

I would prefer a cover less version with only the leather case holding the N900 on the back side and some protecition on the front - maybe the side handles giving some padding on the front in case it falls. I like the open style better than having the screen covered by the flip fold.

I live in the U.S. and have a Noreve case in spite of the conversion to Euros. I really enjoy it. It is slick and the N900 fits snug and secure. It has excellent play that allows the keyboard to slide out without any issues; the same for taking photos. As an added bonus, it looks very attractive and seems to prompt that much more jealously from my work buddies.

I just purchased a Noreve cover for my N900 and it has been an absolute dissapointment. First they did not have the item I ordered in stock (even though the website said they did). They then send across a different product - i wanted a black one, they send a grey-green one claiming it is charcoal. The item recieved also looked to be a used or refurbished item - worn edges are a key tell tale. After requesting a refund they asked to ship it back - the cost of which would negate any refund amount.
End result - stuck with an item that looks used, isnt the color i want and have no way of returning.

Thoroughly dissapointing experinece - my advice - never buy a product from this company - its over hyped, over priced and lousy.

on top of that upon my complaint of the quality, the customer rep 'Cynthia' responds;

no problem... Have a good day.

Hope you paid by credit card?
Cancel it, they didn't supply the goods you ordered, they'll soon get in touch when the credit card payment has been collected off them, then tell them to send you a pre-paid envelope to send it back

Just note it takes a while to come. I had the rubberized hard case from PDAIR, and I like this much better. The phone slips out of the case easily if you needed to take it out on the fly.

I got the MTT Leather Case. So far totally satisfied with it. Plugging in the headphone jack while cased would need some manual tweaking though.

They sent me the metal clip along with the case. AFAIK it is available for purchase over at the Noreve website.

This one's from PDair. The leather is far softer than Noreves but i didn't really like the plastic covering for the keyboard. Makes the keyboard feel tacky.

I've got this particular one from PDair as well. Pretty happy with it so far though the keyboard plastic cover does take some getting used to when typing. I still haven't gotten my typo rate down to what it was before.

Yea taking pictures isn't easy - you have to fold the cover all the way around to the max so that it doesn't come in the viewfinder preview.

NoreveUSA Shut Down - Parent Company Still Viable

FYI - I had a pending order since the ending of January with NoreveUSA for this N900 case. Found out this week via several emails that the company responsible for Noreve's US distribution is filing bankruptcy and reportedly has not paid Noreve (the parent company in France) in three months. I was advised to dispute my charge and replace my order with Noreve directly. They gave me a discount which offsets the increase in shipping costs.

If you try to go to the NoreveUSA.com website, you are instantly redirected to Noreve.com, so you can no longer contact the US distributor online.

It was worth it to me to dispute and reorder the case because the company produces such quality products. I have purchased many cases from Noreve over the years, even before they had a US distributor, so I am a longtime and very satisfied customer. I am looking forward to receiving my N900 case.

I will update this thread if I encounter any issues with my new order!

Absolutely. And another hole so you could charge the phone without having to keep the case open. Those two holes are the only thing I miss in this case. All in all, I am very satisfied with it.

I had the same opinion initially, but then reconsidered. I concluded that if there was a hole in the case for the micro-USB connector, that there was a likelihood of applying lateral forces to the connector if an attempt was made to open the case with the cable plugged in, and that this would be bad given the known weakness of the connector mounting.

However, a hole for the LED would be useful, although given the degree of slack in the case closure (at least in my case), the front cover does seem to move around a bit, so the hole would need to be fairly large.

I'm in a similar situation as you. My order never arrived. i've paid via paypal and all I get when I inquire is this lousy letter (below).

I can't get in touch with anyone one. No one picks up the phone and I'm now thinking that I'll never get my 56 dollars back!!

Please advise me how to contact someone??

Problem is that if you try to login to there account, you'll notice that they've cleared there database. Your account does not exist anymore so how to check order status now?? There's a good chance that we're not getting any case or money back if we depend on them. I've filed a claim with paypal for the the money and I'll reorder from France (since there is no USA branch anymore; just a bunch of theives running with the money).

Same boat here. Went to my bank today with a copy of all the emails they (Noreve and NoreveUSA) sent me, then my local branch faxed it to the claims department. Said I should get my money back in a few days, and they needed copies of the emails (invoice, notice that product was on backorder, NoreveUSA closing, then whatever distributor going bankrupt) in case the company in california files a dispute.
