Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a CCTV dvr which broadcasts over the net using my ip address and an open port so using a pc I can visit my ip such as 1.234.56.789:75 and access the streaming footage.
On the N900 when I go to the ip address, the page opens with the dvr controls - but the streaming image does not appear - just an icon with a play button - if I click on this it offers to save it as a mov file - I think this is quicktime - so,can the N900 accomodate streaming quicktime mov format or is there any download solution? thanks again. |

test mmplayer

Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
That is precisely the kind of setup I need after recently having been burgled! I'm not entirely
sure if the quicktime streaming format is supported by the N900, but perhaps you could set your broadcast to stream a video format the phone can accommodate, such as flash? |
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
good idea for an app here. if someone rings your doorbell, the phone starts dtreaming from the front door camera so you can see who it is. very limited number of people who would use it though so actually a very unrealistic idea.
also i have no idea if it would be feasable. would be very very cool though :) |

I have a full CCTV set-up on my summer property, and typically view streams on a laptop. They are set up to automatically alert me if the CCTV system detects motion on one or more cameras. It would be neat to notify my N900. Is it possible? Sure. Likely that someone will code an app for something like that? Not so much. |
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
this is a link to the file (Eagle Eyes) I used when setting up CCTV on the Nokia N95 - I presume these Jar files won't work on the N900 being a different system altogether?
Thanks for any help. :( http://www.lakson.com.sg/cpcam/ But all I really want to do is get the N900 to play the streaming .mov file at my ip address - instead I just get a "mediaplayer" icon which, if i click it, tries to save the .mov file to the harddrive of the N900 instead of playing the live video... |
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
what system have you installed mate? its not by any chance dedicated micros is it?
|
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
It's the AVC760 DVR and I can view it over internet by any PC - just not the N900 ! :(

Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
i know with some systems you have a possibility to install a viewing programme?
|
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
Yes, there is a viewing program for the PC - but it would not be compatible with the N900..I think what would be needed is a similar program to the Eagle Eyes that would work on Maemo - or more likely, that a fix was found to allow the N900 browser play streaming .mov ..
thanks. |
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
anyone? Please?!!

Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
Just an idea but have you tested out streaming .movs from other sites? There is a possibility that it might be a codec issue not a format issue - I know this doesn't solve your problem but it's one more piece in the jigsaw...

Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
the video will be java, had the problem recently, you would need java runtime to view it and we cant do that on the n900

Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
Another thought - could it be viewed over a vnc session to your main pc?

Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
hallo everybody.
Iuse to view my serurity cams on my nokia 5800 with a small program named dmss. its free and is available in several places over the internet. I received it from the supplier of security cams. I believe it can be a solution for most of the questions of the forum. My problem: I installed the same applet version 1.5 on the nokia n8-00. it connect to the server but the interface does not work properly, i can see it only flashing sometimes. i tried the eagleeyes on the 5800xm until now but it crashes. any hint? thanks |
Re: Playback of Networked CCTV DVR over internet
bigamrck - this won't help with your N800 question, but may help others with general DVR access problems from n900:
I used to use my n900 to monitor a DVR over the net. The DVR's web interface was java based and so while it is designed to be accessible from any web connected PC, it wouldn't run on the n900 (no java support). I installed easy debian from the repo's and I could access my DVR perfectly from debian firefox. |
