[Critical bug] Data loss when moving files - watch out!
 

I have submitted a critical bug in N900 file manager. When moving files, carefully check if there are files of the same names in the destination. The file manager will ask you if you want to overwrite, but if you choose No, the file is deleted instead of moved!

My apologies, I did search before submitting the bug, but did not find that one. :o The good news is that the coming (hopefully soon) PR 1.2 will fix this. :)

Have Nokia done any serious testing on this platform?

Exactly my thinking. Bugs like this make maemo OS look really immature.

I lost a Image because of this Bug. And we reported it 5 month ago... :mad:

The same happened to me this weekend. The bugfix workflow should really have faster turnarounds.

I revisit that brainstorm every few days and hope somehow the thumbs up has become gray again. Still orange.

And that's why bugs should have a +1 vote and an "Aaaargh!" vote. Each user limited to 3 "Aaaargh!"s ever. To recast vote, one must be retired. A bug could have 5 votes, another could have 2 "Aaaargh!"s and IMO the "Aaaargh!"s should have it.

I had a wonderful idea:
Perhaps we could add a similar solution and just vote again?

We have only to add a comment that the Votes from booth Solutions should be added for the election. So we could Vote again and everyone (especially Nokia) is satisfied until everyone has voted again... :D

Wouldn't work.

Late solutions get very low vote count because people already voted. I've seen very elegant solutions with 15/0 while sillier first attempts got 200/80 or such.

Brainstorm just doesn't have the exposure, IMO. Even with one click away and moderator efforts.
