Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
Yep. Its been mentioned here.
Despite everything I consider it vaporware until it comes out. And sure you have full apps but there is a market for mobile software ala Android and iphone. |
Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
Oh lol, yeah I agree. I'm getting fed up with things being announced and then fading into the abyss.. Like the wibrain umpc haha, had the money put aside and gave up waiting X)

Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
And what's that with the penguin with scarfs there? Does it support GNU/Linux?
|
Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
Yeah, I've seen it. I'd rather buy a Viliv N5 or something like that.

N5 wouldn't really work as well as its clamshell. |

EDIT: The Viliv S7 looks nice :) |

I had the OQO before this and I have to say it was looking like my perfect device would come a lot sooner at the time. The Samsung QU1P is thumboard, 8 hr battery I hear, 7" and can be modded to be a phone. But its too heavy, expensive and barely pocketable. |

EDIT: Or I guess I can get myself a cheap EEE PC 701 and mod it - sure it won't be pocketable but considering you can get used ones cheap I don't really care... Wish the would have made a EEE PC 501 :p |
Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
I want it becase I can use it as a phone, show it off, and actually get some work done while i'm out. Runs DOS/Windows7 so i'm assuming it can run any x86 os =) x86 MeeGo???

Now this triple booting OS X + WIN 7+ Android(if you wanted) UMPC/Phone was the Beast from the East:

I hear the Dell mini is the way forward for dual boot and modding! |

ToJa, 3G versions of this, the GIGABYTE M528, are already out and JKK mobile has used it to make calls but it doesn't really work well at 2 hr battery spans. But it has electronic backlight keyboard on the plus side! http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=165783 |

Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
I didn't even get to the specs, but the website had me laughing right away. Not only is having a portable computer with a phone and GPS in it purported to be something special, but in fact it's "The World's First Breakthrough!". I think that whoever figured out how to start a fire might beg to differ on that point. :P
Also, remember, kids - without an F5 or F10 key, your stock trading plans are doomed to failure! That said, it does look like a neat bit of hardware, and I wouldn't mind playing around with one if I got the chance. |
Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
Ahh got ya lol, from the first page:
"Even Smartphone can only support stock software from 4-5 securities companies, the function of F5 and F10 can not be used and many indexes can not be viewed, resulting in my stock loss! With xpPhone, you can do it!" EDIT: That is very bad translation lol |

Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
Yep, have to agree on that front. My solar charger states: "Not waterproof do not let it wet on device" lol
EDIT: XPPhone made it to Computex =] Link is here |
Re: Anyone heard of this Windows XP phone?
Another one by JKK, he claims to have seen someone walking around talking on one too!
