Just seen this for sale on ebay.

Looks like a used n950... Priced at £1250.

Is it real? Are they allowed to sell this?

Whose interested ???

I do believe that there are people that would pay this amount, it's a niche of the niche product.

Technically this would be selling stolen goods as the N950 is property of Nokia. N950 are just loaners.

we dont mind we just selling we do not check if its stolen or whatever as we keep all details id atc... in case dont see that phone as some special. desighn is nice but single core .... hehehehehe :( better to choose i927 samsung

If someone takes the risk, why not try? With high probability, It is not that Nokia will re-purpose them and include stuff into further HWKB- and full Linux-based devices... it's more assumable that they will be either destroyed or land in the hands of privileged Nokians.

I would just see this as flippin' "Nokia" the Bird for the **** they continuously pulled with MeeGo as well as developers / community.

And as a parting shot they'll blacklist the phone's IMEI number, so the buyer is gonna be pretty p!ssed.

It wouldn't make much difference in practice, as the N950 is bloody useless as a phone. It can't hold a 3g signal for toffee.

I'm thinking of CNCing a hinge/slide clip for the N9, to be attached to a $10 Bluetooth keyboard that's about the size of the N9.

Also, who'd pay 1250 quid for the most unsupported phone on the planet, next to OpenMoko stuff? It's cool, but it's inferior to the N9, with the exception of the HWKB (the VKB on the N9 is "good enough", though)

For 600-700, the 950 would be quite ok. _Unless_ there's the possibility to install Nemo et al on recent Droids.

Now that would be interesting to see. I haven't seen many mobile phone case mods apart from the "Steampunk" stuff and my own little N900 case mod.

Were N950s produced in Bochum? Wonder if on annoucement of closure someone didn't produce extra few thousand of the rarest phones, you know, parting gift. At this price it's few million quid, not bad

No, the Bochum factory was closed a looooong time ago, when Maemo even couldn't make phone calls.

You're not right. As not all of them was for loan only. Some N950s was won as prize in developer contests. So that ones could be sold :)

I have to disagree as I have 2 N9s and one N950 and I am happy to hold N950 in my hands :) N9s are more on a desk than in my hands.
Ofcourse, manufacturing could be a little better, but I have no problems with that. I am going to replace N950's keyboard for that from E7 (exactly the same, but E7 has more rouded corners and signs of my language ;) ) and maybe also the screen of E7 - AMOLED 4" as N950 has TFT LCD 4". If connector will fit, it should be easy.

I have an N950 and an N9, I just sent the N950 back to Nokia. I have 0 desire to use or have an N950. The N9 is a far more polished product.

It was given to me to test applications with. If I had wanted to keep it, I would have. I have 0 desire to have it now or ever again. It was ok, not that great and not what I wanted, but to each his own.

I just saw this, the N950 is not 64GB, it's 8GB and that's conservative. I think it was maybe 16GB in total, mass memory had 8GB available to use.

Its just going to end up in a trashcan somewhere. At least sell it or donate it to someone who wants it, maybe someone from here. I'm certain there are people who would even trade their N9's for it.
