OVI repository

Now the OVI store is open am I supposed to be able to see the OVI-hosted apps/games/themes in the phone's app manager? I have the OVI repository listed as one of my active catalogues.

Its very goofy at best... Package Manager > Web GUI - but hey at least the store is open now :)

yeah i know, and i'm using it, but i was just asking myself "why is there an ovi repo if there's no app from it ?" but that's just a question because i don't mind using the browser ;)

Re: OVI repository

The repo is there to actually install the apps from (when you click in the browser it just passes the details through to App manager). The apps aren't shown in the App manager because Nokia want a single interface to the Ovi store.

They specifically hacked App Manager to not show the Ovi stuff because they want to force you to go through the web interface :( http://konttoristhoughts.blogspot.co...ve-on-101.html

Makes sense, I was wondering why the App Manager opened when I installed from online. Thanks

Re: OVI repository

This is a really bad move. The app manager is much better interface to install apps from. It could do with some extensions to the 'description' field to allow formatting and maybe some photos, and then the web interface would have no advantage.

Nokia need to rip from the iPhone on this one!

I too would prefer to see this integrated into one app, but I guess they needed the web frontend to handle payments.
