Grilling vegetables

This is a truly off topic thread

I hope to gain the world wide input that our membership provides by asking a question:

What are some of your favorite garden grown vegetables that are especially tasty when roasted on a grill?

It's time to plant the garden and every year we like to try different varieties in order to come up with the best "grilling garden".

I like to fire up the grill, pick a few fresh vegetables from the garden, and then grill them along with whatever the main dinner course might be. Or, I might have them on their own with a few slices of fresh bread for a light summer lunch.

Please list by variety so I can locate the correct seedlings for planting.

I personally like Cubanelle peppers for instance.

not one for BBQ veggies and cows tend to get a little distressed if you plant them in the ground.

Corn on the cob is fantastic, especially if you soak it and then grill it on the top shelf slowly, in the leaves.

I'm right there with you (except for the garden part). But I'm not sure I'll be much help, b/c we like just about everything. We usually simply add olive oil & sea salt to such things as bell peppers, zucchini, summer squash, mushrooms, asparagus. I use a basket with a handle for easy flipping.

Other odds & ends: sliced white onion can accompany grilled steak. Sliced tomato sprinkled afterwards with parmesan is good. It's also fun to slice potatoes and white onion, mix in a ketchup or Asian sauce, and grill them in a foil pouch.

There are lots of possibilities & I've always felt we were just scratching the surface. I have an uncle that's a vegetarian & he loves to grill.

Oh yeah, I'm an "in the leaves" guy. I love the smoky smell. Although shucking them afterwards can be a trick.
