i cant even do that.. because when i click on application manager.. it says "Checking for updates, Please Wait" and stays like that forever too...

EDIT: also when i m tryin to download something, it will say "Downloading *** kb" and stay like this forever and eventually come up with a warning "Downloading "***" failed"..

What does your /etc/resolv.conf shows ?

Back it up, then

Do "nslookup google.com" and put that ip in your resolv.conf and retry again.

for more/etc/resolv.conf... it says "nameserver 127.0.0.1"
and for the google.com,
it says " Server: 127.0.0.1
Address 1: 127.0.0.1 Nokia-N900-51-1
Name: Google.com
Address 1: 1.0.0.0"
