Reflashed N900 Constantly Rebooting

Yesterday, after I turned off my N900, it would reach the desktop before loading any items, then restart itself, and reach the desktop again, and repeat the restarting cycle over and over again. Reading posts for assistance, I tried to reflash it but it seemed to not do anything. So I tried doing a hard reset of the device by downloading the eMMC and PR bin files. I reflashed the device using the PR file first, then the eMMC bin afterwards. I used this [ tutorial ]. After it was all successful, I proceeded to start up my phone, but this time, it first loads up the Nokia screen, then go black afterwards for a few seconds, and restarts itself in that exact same cycle over and over again. I also spotted a red led light a couple times. Please help. I really need my phone to work. I have had it for a year, and kept it updated with the latest firmware.

You need to do eMMC first and then rootfs.

Read the wiki, not some poxy nokiablog!

No, you don't need to do that at all.

Lesson One: Anything with "wiki" in its title can and probably will be wrong. Don't believe anything you read on the internet. Not even what I'm saying! : )

The Wiki on reflashing the N900 is seriously in need of simplification. It is ambiguous at best, but really, it needs to be deleted and rewritten.

Moving on.

It very literally does not matter what order you flash the two files in, so long as you get the flasher syntax correct for each one.

Ideally you would first flash either the emmc or the rootfs without the reboot switch, followed by the other with the reboot switch. Technically it doesn't much matter if you do reboot for both though, just that it'll take you a couple extra power cycles to get the job done.

The Wiki, once you strip out all the guff, tells you to do the rootfs first, followed by the emmc - so you are wrong.

rootfs: RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
eMMC: RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin

First you need to do is get emmc file, you will find it in: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php
and download RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin

After downloading emmc then download:
RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
now open maemo flasher-3.5.exe and type flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
after it flashing is done don't switch on your mobile.
then type flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
It will give you the latest pr 1.3 in your n900, hope this will help.

Absolutely. I tried to edit it awhile back to at least get rid of stuff that was untrue, but after I made the edits they were reverted to untrue.

after it flashing is done don't switch on your mobile.

The -R switch at the end of the parameter will reboot the mobile, rendering the comment about not switching on irrelevant. The command instead should be:
Code:

flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f
missing the
Code:

-R
switch at the end. The second command is right.

Personally, rather than typing that long winded command I download the two files and name one emmc.bin and the other one fiasco.bin. That then makes the command sequence;

Code:

flasher-3.5 -F fiasco.bin -f
flasher-3.5 -F emmc.bin -f -R

Re: Reflashed N900 Constantly Rebooting

Hi, I'm new to this site, and I'm having issues with the n900 constantly doing this. I work at a returns warehouse, and my job is datawiping phones. I have recieved a lot of n900 phones lately, and quite a few of them have had what appears to be this issue. It does not fully power on. The nokia screen does come on, but the screen will go dark and the process will start over.

I have pulled the battery out for 10-15 seconds, pressed the "U" key on the keyboard, then waited for the nokia screen before plugging the usb into the PC and running Maemo Flasher, but when trying to run either rootfs, or emmc it never gets past Suitable usb device not found.

I have run the flasher on a few N900's and had success, so I know I'm using the program properly, its just this issue I've had quite a few of the phones, and I have to send the phones to recycling if I cant complete the process.

Any help would be appreciated(I'd like to consider my self a techie, but this is something I can't figure out, and its annoying the hell outta me lol).

What OS are you trying to flash from. Windows 7 has known problems with flashing. Read the wiki on flashing for more info on how to resolve that problem, if indeed that is the case.
