The press weren't the only people that made it out to be ready for mass market. I believe the openmoko's roadmap slated a consumer ready device to be ready by the Spring of this year...

Sounds sweet, I guess I'll just say screw the iphone and go with one of these setups. The real reason I personally wanted AT&T was to eventually screw around with some of the unlocked phones out...

Ah, I see. Currently, they have the unlimited media net and the 200 text messages separate for $15/mon and $5/mon respectively, but its only for non-smartphone phones. You probably got away with it...
