Re: Server not found/ can't retrieve IP address with Netgear range extender

Got it (finally)...I use mac address filtering on my linksys router, once I added the N800 to the list, no problem connecting near the router. But netgear range extenders require you to add a...

Server not found/ can't retrieve IP address with Netgear range extender

Here’s a tough one to sort out. I added a Netgear WGX 102 range extender to my home plug network a while back, but my N800/OS 2008 (pre Diablo) refuses to recognize it. Went over my Linksys router...

Re: Lost the N810 original case

The Proporta alu-leather case is a good compromise -- full access to screen, controls, doesn't cover the speaker etc - easy to pop in or out, still (barely) fits in your pocket. And the flap that...

Re: Flash Player GUI Front End for N8xx?

Same problem, navigating to my external card, drilling down through the directory structure etc...then coping with mplayer's power drain and sometimes wonky behavior. Ditto for using bookmarks in the...

Flash Player GUI Front End for N8xx?

I'm starting to accumulate flash games on the tablet, for those offline moments. Each time I want to play a flash file, game or otherwise, I need to navigate to the file via file manager and click to...

Re: N800 Stylus Scratching Screen

Most definitely, that buys a lot of peace of mind! But don't cheese out to save a few bucks, Boxwave product ($12.95) is far superior to those shown on the page you linked. A bit fussy to install,...

Re: N800 Stylus Scratching Screen

The "factory provided" screen cover actually isn't a screen cover at all, just a cheesy piece of "shrink wrap" like you peel off of many things these days. Get a real screen protector, like the...

Re: Speed Up VNC? Video File Types?

Thanks for the info, that makes sense...jpegs display even better on the tablet than on my PC, with its high res Sony monitor, the colors are more natural. Also VNC turns out to be a nice work around...

Speed Up VNC? Video File Types?

I've got VNC up and running on my N800 (pre-Diablo OS2008) - excellent Client port, what a treat to be able to put my desktop through its paces from the back porch.

Couple of quick questions:

While waiting for the hopeful Risk clone, I came across a neat work-around. I've been playing Domination, Yura's Java version of Risk (installed on XP box), a nice job with extra maps and card sets...

I assume you mean run command from xterm - I know a bit of unix, but linux is a foreign tongue - what would the run command resemble, given that the app is in "extras" folder? I can get to the $...

EightyOne was one of my favorite games for the N800 tablet (OS2008, pre diablo), played it a bunch, but recently when I tried to start it I got the loading message but no game. I tried uninstalling...

Re: What is the best format to rip CD to play on Nokia N810?

Use Exact Audio Copy or dbPoweramp. EAC is freeware, as is the LAME encoder that actually does the mp3 conversion. Most audiophiles consider it the best tool for the job, though dbPoweramp and Media...

Re: The best case for your N800 and iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Keyboard

I just picked up a soft Samsonite case that is perfect for the N800/igo combo. It is marketed as a "Waist Pack", but you can easily trim off the annoying little strap. The center pouch is a...

Re: Note taking on the N800

Re: What woud you realistically like to see in the N900?

Not to cast a wet blanket over this, but I for one am not especially eager to see a model 900, though it is inevitable. It would be cool indeed, BUT... Given Nokia's track record with the 770/800,...
