The screen generates one centre of pressure which is the weighted sum of all local pressures acting on it. Force platforms work like this but the more common example is the Wii Fit board.

My replacement has arrived today and it is not any better. The first thing I noticed was a speck of dust inside the screen above the pixels layer, clearly visible on a white screen (Google page)....

Gnuite, this might explain why MM gives failure messages when trying to download/process low zoom levels (I've reported this earlier here). It happens with Google Maps though in my case.
