Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU
The Community SSU has been a great improvement! Thanks for that! Some ideas that I'd consider useful:
- Add FM Transmitter on/off switch to Power Menu
- Longer delay for FM Transmitter...

Re: battery drain
Do you use Mail for Exchange? I've had a similar problem with PR1.3, and it seems to have something to do with mails (modest). Now I have disabled automatic mail syncing for Exchange, and so far this...

Re: a bit snappy UI for the n900 (accidentally)
Thanks! Seems to make UI a bit nicer. Let's see if there are some downsides.
Is there a way to make the desktop scrolling to have more fps? I know there will be some tearing even after that, but...

Re: N900 Scrolling
Exactly! Increasing the framerate would help, but make the tearing effect more visible. I would still choose better framerate! Any possibilities to hack this? Even just the desktop view?
CloudGPS...

Re: N900 Scrolling
One reason is that the driver for graphics chip doesn't recognize the vertical sync (or whatever, when the screen draw has been done - let's not start another argument about this please :)).
A...

Great widget especially with FM range tuning:

Re: How do you use multitasking in N900?
Normally I have 0 to 2 programs in the background (e.g. mail, browser, photo viewer, eCoach, SMS, a contact entry, etc...). I would have more, but the amount of memory is far too small for that. I...

Re: Overclock to 1.15 Ghz
Also a very essential setting (especially if processor is enabled for 125 or 250 mhz!) is the Sampling Rate, which is 300.000 ms by default. I've been using 75.000 ms now for months, and it works...

Re: N900 sound quality is excellent
Some re-nicing of processes should help on this I think, but I'm not sure how exactly to do it the right way. Audio playing should have one of the most important priorities IMHO! Also of course...

The demo worked just fine for me, and the Buy-button took me to the PayPal site, and the full version works nicely also. Have you tried again?

Make it possible to choose the default operator settings...

Calling a phone number by saying a name (via bluetooth hands-free) has worked perfectly nice with S60. That feature would be really good for Maemo!

Re: Why not constantly stay on fMMS APN?
Probably no reason for you to have multiple APNs, then. For me the MMS APN does not work for internet.
For me the problem is that my phone always seems to try to connect to the MMS APN and not...

Re: Speech to Text for Maemo?
Speech recognition would be at least very useful for calling to Phonebook entries (safety issue when in car with a handsfree!). I'd love to have this.

Re: Why is the Apple UI so fluid and ours isn't?
The tearing due to missing vsync is most easily seen in the browser, when you use it in portrait mode (Ctrl-Shift-O, qwerty not opened, and device turned upright), and then scrolling. I know what...

Great thread, just read it through! Very good points about the technology and tradeoffs. Still my biggest issue is that almost everything scrolls badly. Browser in portrait mode is otherwise very...
