Re: N810 Video Converter

Sorry about that. I've added an index.html file. When I moved to a new server it had capitalization issues.

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

I've added a little code to interrogate the number of cores/processors and set the thread=xx flag. It's posted as version 2.06. Let me know if this does the trick for you.

Re: Is it possible to run Ubuntu Mobile on n810?

Hi,

You asked (a few posts ago) about why ubuntu versus maemo (for example) and that's a trivial answer. As a developer maemo sucks. None of the examples compile or run, the documentation is...

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

I have seen issues with two-pass encoding and particularly motion estimation (especially in Linux). That's why I added a checkbox to disable motion estimation. I usually do a bunch of movies...

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi, Just set to to 16/9 and tell it to crop to 15/9. This should do exactly what you're looking for. If the video is really 16/9 (not anamorphic) you don't have to set the aspect ratio manually.

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

No problem. I was happy to get it working well.

I just flew to the UK and on my N810 I had 18 ebooks, 8 movies, and 50 cd's. What could be cooler than that? (Maybe a battery that lasts...

Increasing the Volume

The N810 (and probably the N800 with OS2008) has this not-enough-volume issue talked about elsewhere. Here's what I've done:

edit the file /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf on your nokia
add these two...

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

OK, I've posted a new version that builds (and is compatible with Java 5). There were a couple of gotchas that are only in 6 (oops).

Also I fixed the volume gain button which was putting a...

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

I've taken a look.

I'm using Java 6 on Ubuntu.

Note 1: If you don't invoke the jar file from the current directory it won't find the resolutions.txt file. This causes the list to be...

Re: N810 Video Converter

To all:

I'm sorry I didn't notice the posts about Ubuntu issues. I thought I'd get auto-email but guess not. I'll look into that in a week since I do have Ubuntu here.

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

With respect to the MacOS issue: it looks like it's too old a version of Java. I think that's the "file manager" java object. See if there's an update. Let me know if not.

I haven't tried...

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

I've posted a new version with a few tweaks for Linux (like a script to run it) but it seems to work fine on Ubuntu 7.10. I did install the java 6 RE but I don't think that mattered since...

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

If you're trying to run on Linux I started to try that and needed to upgrade my redhat distro (which I haven't done yet). So, I've never tested it on Linux.

Is this Linux or Windows? If...

Re: N810 Video Converter

I've added Audio transcoding in the 2.03. If you encode at 44.1 Stereo at 64kbps the N810/Mplayer can handle 560x336 almost exactly. Hopefully with speedups to come this will be easy.

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

I think you can just edit the resolutions.txt file to try the resolutions. I'm pretty easy-going about allowing stuff in there. Let me know if that doesn't work.

fwiw as far as I can tell...

Re: N810 Video Converter

I've updated the converter to support Divx5 and Xvid. Both of these are better compressors than the Divx converter used by the version 1 media converter. Among other things they keep the maximum bit...

Re: On and Off problems

This may just be me, but I've totally avoided problems by using XTerminal and doing a 'shutdown -h -P now' instead of using the power button. It's a pita but it works for me.

Re: N810 Video Converter

Hi,

The regular converter doesn't really work right in a number of ways.

The 1.4 version:

1) doesn't do anamorphic cropping right since it has no aspect setting

2) doesn't support 560...

N810 Video Converter

Hi,

Well, one reason to get the N810 was to play videos. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be able to handle 800x480 videos so I wanted to see what it would handle.

While doing that I found...
