Sorry, that is right, you have to install imagemagick first, which is available in the extras repositories, see:

You cannot put it under MyDocs, since that is a FAT32 partition, put it somewhere under /opt in order to be able to execute the script.

If you have downloaded a deb-file, you just type

dpkg -i FILENAME.deb

If it's a zipped file, first use

unzip FILENAME

(in both cases use the correct file name)

GNU Emacs has a GUI, but can also be started without one, even on maemo (the version of vim on maemo does however not come with a GUI).

I installed kumatux org and several programs. The xz utility worked fine after the linking but emacs does not. I installed all the kumatux apps to /home/user/kumatux.org-apps but this doesn't seem to...

I flashed the new firmware (only the fiasco image, not the vanilla/emms image) using flasher-3.5, and was a bit scared that my bluetooth keyboard wouldn't work...

OK, it really seems related to the architecture. I booted into a 32 bit GNU/linux live session from a USB image and could then flash the device.
