My problem seemed to be caused by my recent install of the new firefox beta release. Just uninstalled it and the backlighting of the keyboard is working again.

The backlighting of my keyboard has completely stopped, along with the notification light. Noticed it a few days ago.

The December 4th delivery date is specific to my order. I think the earlier response is accurate, as to Amazon filling orders on a first come first serve basis.
