Yep, running from Micro SD, and still in development, even so it's actually quite fast when you consider this. And N900 is two year old hardware (still blows the pants of some of the newer Android crap).
However it looks a step back from Maemo, I understand one of the reasons for leaving Maemo and going to Meego was expanding their potential devices it can run on (Maemo was optimised for 4" screens, whereas Meego with it's multiple UX's can work on any screen size).
Speaking purely as an end user, it's not quite complete it needs to be like an Android'ish base i.e. like Googles vanilla OS which the vendors/users can install apps/customise. I guess that will come in version 1.3.
In some respects though it does seem to be more thought out than Maemo, MMS, 3G video calling etc will probably not be an afterthought like they were with Maemo.
Anyway one thing I hope they get right is the package management, installing packages does take quite some time as does checking for updates.
All I can say is I'm waiting for the Nokia N9!
