just use the ignore button and dont feed the trolls - everytime you reply to him it gives him a chance to reply and you feed the fire - you know he wants ppl to talk to him so why do you reply ?

a petition for permanent ban ? useless in the extreme on internet forums if he is persistent enough.

guess he really drove you over the edge huh

Well it is certainly nice to see Meego in action, looks a little slow in places, but equally there are still tricks to be applied to fool the user into feeling it's faster, I imagine there are still also optimisations to be made to the applications themselves.

If only the second reviewer had just held her hands still, was making me seasick all that wobbling round! Also a small lol at the "blacking out" of phone numbers, but not actually doing it for every frame.

The new Mozilla browser looks quite cool in the UI interaction stakes, sliding things in/out from the sides, etc. Nice.

Also the use of a top pull down status bar in the desktop is a good borrow from Android.

Were there any pictures of the calendar and contacts apps in the videos? I was skipping to avoid having to listen and watch the whole thing.

Yep, running from Micro SD, and still in development, even so it's actually quite fast when you consider this. And N900 is two year old hardware (still blows the pants of some of the newer Android crap).

However it looks a step back from Maemo, I understand one of the reasons for leaving Maemo and going to Meego was expanding their potential devices it can run on (Maemo was optimised for 4" screens, whereas Meego with it's multiple UX's can work on any screen size).

Speaking purely as an end user, it's not quite complete it needs to be like an Android'ish base i.e. like Googles vanilla OS which the vendors/users can install apps/customise. I guess that will come in version 1.3.

In some respects though it does seem to be more thought out than Maemo, MMS, 3G video calling etc will probably not be an afterthought like they were with Maemo.

Anyway one thing I hope they get right is the package management, installing packages does take quite some time as does checking for updates.

All I can say is I'm waiting for the Nokia N9!
