Good for you, but calling people stupid is still a rude thing to do.

I never said it was*, but your conclusions aren't really drawn from particularly good data. My methods here address the issue on a case-by-case basis, (kinda like fighting a fire by pinching out all the floating embers) which doesn't have a particularly large effect on the issue in the large scale. Think of how many people ex-newbies might still be posting redundant threads if they weren't instructed in the ways of forum etiquette, though.†

I've put forward and contributed to a number of reasonable solutions to the problem, but they all require either a concerted effort on the part of the community (the wiki is gaining steam, but still sadly lacking) or a varying amount of work from Reggie.

In order for things to get better, we're either going to have to wait for the stream of newbies to slow down and join the ranks of useful members, watch all the senior members slowly disappear out of disinterest and frustration, or really put forth a concerted effort for change.

Really, though, this is all a lot of hot air until that happens. One of the older "solution" topics on the subject needs to be revisited, and somebody needs to draft a letter to Reggie or volunteer as orchestrator for a community effort.

*Mostly this is my way of letting off a little steam instead of just abandoning this place to the hordes and their supporters.

†Teach a man to fish and all that, it's really a good service to the poster, despite your and their objections of rudeness and unhelpfulness.
