You need to start the mapping application and tap the satellite icon mid bottom and make sure GPS is enabled. It should start showing gray bars representing the signal within a minute or two, but the first time it might take a while to get a lock (the bars turn green and some other things appear). Also in the control panel there is something to select a BT GPS v.s. the internal one and to enable or disable it.
