I tried running the flasher-2.0 on my powerbook without success, either - I assumed that it's because it doesn't have USB 2.0 (it's an older Titanium model), but it also occurs to me that in my last attempt I forgot to run it as root. I ended up running it from an Ubuntu machine and got it working.
