SOLVED THE MYSTERY.
i borrowed a memory card reader and i can copy files, even large ones (>300M), from the card in the card reader to HD.
I am pretty sure USB HUB works fine with N800. the problem was caused by my memory stick. i think it consumes too much of juice, and it happened my hub power supply is not enough to keep it on when reading data continuously from it, so it was turned off.

In the Terminal, I mounted both of them and used CP to copy files and had same problem: the Terminal itself freezes. My power supply can provide enough juice.
Just wonder if anyone tried this before?
thanks.
