I have to admit that I don't see any difference in "handwriting" recognition between the 770 and the N800. I've set them both up to be as identical as possible (it really pays to go through the "teaching" part and either eliminate the shapes you'll certain you'll never use and/or add your own letter shapes where necessary) and the only thing I notice is that the N800 is maybe marginally quicker.
It still has the brain-numbingly annoying habit of erasing letters when even the teensiest part of the next stroke overlaps them; and the show-stopping anti-user behaviour of nilly-willy transposing an "i" with a dot into a semi-colon (but not always, because that would be too easy, obviously) is still present.
And did someone ask about cursive recognition? Dude, it won't even properly do printed, so there...
