In the "settings" section of Skype You can prepay for "SkypeOut" credit. In my case I used the PayPal option. I bought $10 of credit with lasts me several months. If you go to the Skype Website you can setup a profile in which you type in your landline or cell phone number. Now when you use Skype to call a friend's phone, their caller ID will display either your number or name when you call.
