Hmm, well yes. I think it is a commercially strategic move, not a technical one. I don't think any one is pretending otherwise. i believe this move is made in order to better compete against Android. The result should be more developers and more devices. That should eventually make the people happy. Or at least I think it should.

Trying to make the deb vs rpm into a technical impediment is a different story. It is more based on love and hate, emotional rather than rational.
