Changing karma formulas before elections always feels a bit weird. I'd say use the original karma formula, and then after the elections the council can make it a topic and resolve it without the pressure of a short deadline, sense of potential injustice because of a formula change, etc, etc.

And I still thik a karma pool is a good idea to avoid issues like this on the long run Think about it this way - the proposed formulas were discussed for weeks, and when a rough consensus seemed to form, it got implemented, and when the results came back, it still felt wrong. Do you see the problem ? Even an attempt takes months, that's why I feel the tweakster approach is a sisyphusian task...
