well, I am, so I'm with you there.
I too haven't found rdesktop too useable when I travel for my case. Mostly because on my commute I take the underground and a constant connection isn't always there, but for a working lunch in the park or other odd times away from the office it's good to have.
I think rsync would be better there. A setup to sync files, work on them offline, then commit when you're back.
