In use it appears that QSpot only uses marginally more CPU percentage than Media Player... but Media Player can play overnight and the N900 can still have 50% charge remaining, while with QSpot that will totally kill the battery well before the morning.
It is probably related to temporary communication problems (timeouts) while communicating with the Spotify servers (and it seems that in the past few months the problems have started to occur more frequently).

I need to see what can be done about the battery usage; most probably it will again require optimizations / fixes to the library. It is however clear that being in online (connected) state all the time while the app is running will consume battery; this is again due to QSpot only supporting online mode (the official clients can of course save battery by providing the offline playlists support). Also use of high bitrate streaming will require more CPU usage.
