iancumihai --

I installed your myTube application a couple days ago, to check it out (and, while Canola's plugin still gives me issues dealing with YouTube, myTube seems to work fine in fetching/viewing videos)... anyway, I was having some minor issues within the application, so I checked the listed dependencies and made sure I had all the various "background bits & pieces" necessary (and, I do).

except, perhaps, for one. I see reference to `youtube-dl`, which I realize is a youtube download script written in python... but, nowhere on my device is there a file named "youtube-dl". Is there supposed to be one, somewhere? If so, where should I put it? I can easily download the script and install it wherever it needs to be, edit the config file to point to it, or whatever... but the question then becomes, how am I able to use myTube at all if this script is required (and I'm finding videos and downloading/viewing them!!)?

curious minds want to know... (and they want to get the full myTube experience, as well!)

youtube-dl comes bundled with mYTube.
it is stored as /usr/bin/youtube-dl-x (-x is a lame way to avoid a name colision).

it should be installed automatically (a few kb in size).

if you start mytube from xterm, you should be able to see youtube-dl's output.

if the movies are not downloading, you should check the storage path (in preferences)

okay, thanks...

the issue was, actually, that on occasion it would simply -stop- downloading videos, complaining that my card had a read-only filesystem (and it had, in fact, somehow become read-only). Rebooting the N800 fixes it, until it happens again... to subvert the obvious response: no, I'm not removing/re-inserting or otherwise manipulating the SD card in any way when this occurs.

second question: there are other "youtube-dl like" scripts available for other video sites... is it possible/easy to configure myTube to allow these to work as well? ...or, can it be easily added to the myTube configuration somewhere?

what you are experiencing looks very much like a corrupt(mini)SD.

yes there are other tools, not really configurable right now, but planed for the next versions of mYTube

okay.. i've got others I can put in there. odd that it would think it 'read only', and then suddenly not think so, without any intervening repairing/reformatting/replacing tho...

and, thanks for the heads-up re: future versions... i'll definitely keep an eye out for 'em
