Did the tutorial ever get written/materialise anywhere? The only thing I've seen so far is the thread on here with isbn_saver.py example, which is pretty useful (except that the .h defines included in a large commented block there seem to be useless to check the analysed type!).

No, sorry. I haven't had the time to continue working on mbarcode and I'm afraid I won't have the time to look back into the code to write a tutorial now either. It has been too long a time since I last worked on the project.

Good luck, though

Thanks very much for a quick reply! I want to work out a bitcoin QR code solution plugin, got it able to do a few things so far (in python) including recognising bitcoin qr's and simple validation/posting to a (not yet existing) web wallet kind of service (but my own non-whole-private-key storing one) but mbarcode (my plugin hacked from isbn_saver) doesn't close down the plugin-chooser when its done its job. is that intended, so can run multiple plugins per code/have to manually go back to power intensive camera? i guess maemo banner or dialog is way to indicate its done?

Have done a gtk app (simple) before in python but no qt; am C++ programmer but never yet got env/compiler set up so python fast and easy (+ I love it for stuff like this)

Will try to find mbarcode's source code - guessing its on garage/a github-alike somewhere.

I'll be switching to a newer smartphone (expect android, samsung; though sailfish almost tempting to aim for) in a few months probably but my N900 will survive and might become tool for a few things/my own dev stuff, like this, or my meetup.com groups' admin/alternate business phone no.

I don't remember how the plugins in Python interact with mBarcode, and I'm not sure what the intended behavior for plugins actually is. But I remember now that I actually wrote the tutorial some time back, I just forgot to post it in this thread. I found the tutorial to write Qt-plugins for mBarcode here:

http://wiki.maemo.org/Mbarcode_Plugin_Tutorial

Sadly there is no equivalent for Python (I think).

The source code is located here:
