I will ask the developer though if there is a safety with regards to this though
Well, the FM transmitter your phone has is not so strong, and the probability of someone else in the transmitting range listening to the frequency you set is quite low, but they're not the only ones who are listening to the radio - there are some very powerful receivers out there, some military and some civilian, which are constantly scanning and monitoring frequencies for quite a long distance.
Would you like to share your private conversations with them that easily? I know I wouldn't...

True this is a concern, I think in general for the amount of calls I get in the car a day, maybe one or two I think id be quite safe.

Not too worried about government, military...well a couple of 5 year old kids could over power the Irish army so even if they had the funding to buy a receiver i doubt they do though

I have asked the developer if there is anything in the app itself to restrict anyone else hearing it

I have a couple of request, perhaps these exist already or are in progress but I dont believe they are and may not even be possible.

Request 1:

Contact Login Notifier:

This would work similar to Microsoft Communicator or Yahoo Messanger notification of when a contact becomes online. Basically a little window or some kind of notification would appear for a second then disappear. Where I think this would be handy is that for me anyway I sit at a desk all day with the phone screen on always, I cant see if a contact logs in easily unless they are pinned to my home screen or i go into contacts directly.

Request 2:

Route Phone Through FM Transmitter:

Not sure if this is possible, but currently the FM transmitter can send sound from Radio/movies to my cars radio, is it possible to router the sound from a phone call to the radio via the FM transmitter ? This would mean no more need for BT headsets and no need to buy the expensive BT package when buying a new car. If this is possible there may be a problem as the car has no mic for me to speak into but many cars, mine anyway have a 3.5mil jack that I can attach a microphone to, could this be incorporated ?

Anyway hope someone thinks these are good ideas, they would be handy for me and im sure some other too.

Cheers

Colm
Idea 1 sounds like a good idea to me, and am sure that there must be a dbus signal which would be leveraged, in a similar fashon to the now playing notifier app does, which displays the song details whenever a song starts playing.

This would also be useful functionality to build into the mycontacts app and widgets.

Yeah i think it would be handy, imagine you are surfing the web, a little notifier appears that your friend has come online....makes sense to me.

Yes it could get annoying if you have them constantly coming online offline but there could be an option to disable.

The notifier could also display what account they are online on, Facebook or GTalk etc

Don't get me wrong - I'm not bothered by those things myself - its not that I conduct top-secret conversations on my mobile or something - but the thought that someone I don't know might be listening to my conversation as well, makes me feel a bit uncomfortable...
