The sleep command should work for that.. i've seen others use the sleep successfully.
sleep 3600 ; kill <id>

shutdown
~ $ shutdown
~sh: shutdown: command not found
the same for bash
init: command not found
sleep 5
works fine
as most of shell commands comes with a box
mayby a box for Maemo 5
comes with different set of shell commands.
