Use the top left button and hit the right side to move forward and the left to move backward.

You mean the pad with the 4 buttons and the one center one? The center one pauses but the other ones don't seem to do anything.

Yes, the pad with the 4 buttons and center one. That's strange, it works on mine. Sorry I wasn't much help.

Where did you get your mplayer? Maybe the one I have is outdated.

Hit the menu key and the top onscreen option is 10min fast forward or backward using the L/R keypad, then hit the Back/arrow button to close the menu when done.
