I was just wondering if it's possible to create an easier way to get the display back on using touch screen?

Clicking the power button once/twice or trying to unlock it with the slide switch gets kind of annoying especially when you're multi-tasking and using the phone with one hand. I know you can always slide the keyboard open, but having a touch interface type feature to get the display to light up again would be awesome! (perhaps a double tap feature, or a swipe gesture on the screen...)

Yes, disable autolock in the settings. Screen wakes up by touch until you lock it.

You can touch the slide lock. If you are using the phone with one hand it's easy to press the power button and swipe.

what? so you want a screen that doesn't autolock unless you think it should be locked?

The N900 is pretty ******** good, however it isn't telepathic!

I think the OP is looking for something similar to what the N9/N950 has, which is a double-tap to unlock the screen. Don't much like it myself, but others might.

Lol, s/he is referring to the N9/N950 feature, though showing that he doesn't actually give a shite about it. Just say it: "I want to make my N900 look like an N9"

Back to topic:
The feature you are requesting deals with the accelerometer, for detecting taps from the screen. It is pretty do-able, but whoever attempts to implement it should rewrite the driver responsible about that, which is waaaaaay above my little coding skills.

More like fix rather than a full "rewrite"
