Try just going to the maemo.org/downloads page for mplayer and clicking the green install arrow?

Maybe your problem is due to the repositories currently borked (what a surprise!).
Just wait a while until they fix them (and be quick enough to avoid them being borked again)

btw bunanson, where can I find such statusbar digital clock for diablo?
I couldn't find it anywhere since it's a pain looking for any proper diablo repositories ('official' extras are down for me from yesterday somehow
)

I do not want "xterm/update", as it updates everything. So, what other option I have to trigger a specific apps to get update? Should I file a bug report?
